I promise to try my best not to spend all week posting pictures of my grandson. But seriously folks, it’s hard to think about anything else when it’s all David, all the time, all day, all night, all week, twenty-four seven.
Yes, his parents (Naomi and Craig Campbell) have gone off on another cruise out of Port Tampa. Consequently David gets another week of Grandparent one-on-one fun-fest at Maul Hall.
Check out the opening picture. Saturday David jabbered and pointed all the way home from the airport. He’s been this bright, this engaged, this wired, this excited pretty-much non-stop.
RELENTLESS: David trots around the house at speed, constantly. He’s always looking for some new and creative avenue to explore:
- “Helping” take down the ornaments off the Christmas trees (without permission)…
- “Helping” to fold (unfold) the laundry…
- He’s done the lap (kitchen, dining room, living room, family room; kitchen, dining room, living room, family room…) maybe 100 times already…
- When we say “no” he shakes his head from side to side and giggles…
- He throws himself into absolutely everything at one hundred percent…
- He’s a bulldozer, an earth-mover a snowplow, a force of nature…
- Scout (the dog) sighs a lot and tries to become invisible.
David’s sense of energy and purpose is relentless. He plays hard, he eats hard, he loves hard, and he sleeps hard.
WHAT A GREAT EXAMPLE: There’s this sense of urgency and of ongoing discovery that characterizes how our grandson interacts with the world and – I’ve got to say – I believe there’s a great deal many of us could learn from his approach.
David has just a few short days with Grandaddy Derek and Grandmama Rebekah, and he’s determined that he’s not going to waste a single second of the experience.
MONDAY: It’s Monday, people. How about a “David approach” to today and then the rest of the week for good measure? How about determining not to waste a single second of the experience of living over the next few days?
- Determined not to waste relationships (our marriage, our kids, our friendships)…
- Not to waste an opportunity where we could help, or serve, or give…
- Not to waste the occasion to live, and to live like we really mean it…
- Not to waste this tremendous gift that is TODAY.
How about it?
- DEREK
